Without a doubt, there is no music style in which I feel more comfortable singing than Ragga or Dancehall. I have always been fond of various genres of Reggae music, such as Ska, Rock and Steady, Roots, and Rub a Dub. However, it was Dancehall that truly propelled my artistic journey. Perhaps because its rhythm is most reminiscent of what I used to listen to during my adolescence in Angola.
The cadence of Semba, Zouk, and even Kazukuta can be found in a single beat of Reggae Dancehall. The vocalization of this musical style takes me back to the ceremonies I witnessed during religious gatherings, alambamentos, and funerals, all led by the elders of the family. These experiences enriched my connection with music, and that's why Dancehall became so special to me.
